Bangles for the holud, the wedding and the bou-bhat

Which silk thread bangle sets suit each wedding day, how many to stack, and when to order so they arrive in time.

A Bangladeshi wedding is several days, and the bangles usually change with the outfit. Here is how our sets fit each one.

Gaye holud

The holud is yellow, green and bright, and it is a long, busy day of colour and turmeric. Our festive sets are lighter than the bridal ones and easier to wear for hours: Ruponti Holud and Hemonti are in yellow and gold, Jolpori Sabuj in green and silver, and Sejuti Rongdhonu carries every colour at once. Keep them dry: take them off before the turmeric and the water come out.

Biye, the wedding day

This is where the bridal sets belong: heavier, with dense kundan and pearl work, mostly in reds, maroons and gold to sit with a bridal saree or lehenga. Sharada, Ruponti, Komolini and Ruponti Rani are made as statement pieces; Gulbahar and Meher are classic red and gold.

Bou-bhat

The reception after the wedding often calls for something just as dressy but different from the wedding day. A gold or champagne set such as Konokprova, or a white and pearl one such as Sharada Mukta, changes the look without starting again.

How many to wear

Our photographs show each set stacked the way it is meant to be worn. For a fuller look, stack two sets together; for a dawat, one set with a cotton saree is plenty.

Order early

Every set is made by hand in Bogura. After we confirm your order, delivery takes one to two working days in Dhaka and two to four elsewhere. Order a week or more before the first event, so there is time for a size exchange if you need one: we exchange within three days of delivery. Check your size first in our bangle size guide.
